Who We Are
Karim Shakoor, M.D. is the founder of Colon & Digestive Health Specialists, LLC. He has received board certification in Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He completed residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL in 1993 and served as Chief Medical Resident . Cook County Hospital Residency Program is one of the largest Residency Programs in the country. Subsequently, he completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Cook County Hospital in 1997.
His wife is an Internist, and they have two children.
Dr. Shakoor is Fluent in English and Urdu. He enjoys running, table tennis, reading and spending time with his family. He has hospital privileges at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, Conyers.

Krisna Patel, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant who works alongside Dr. Karim Shakoor. Krisna was born and raised in Lilburn, Georgia. She obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and later earned her Master of Medical Science degree from Mercer University Physician Assistant Program. Her medical interests include Gastroenterology and Preventative Medicine. Krisna is a current member of American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants. She is also certified by the National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants. Krisna enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Some of her personal interests include watching football, traveling to new places, and trying new cuisines
